Long Live Playtime’s mission is to strive for an inclusive facility where families and community members feel accepted, encouraged and connected by the thoughtfully curated equipment and services presented in an atmosphere of kindness. We are committed to providing a fun and exciting environment that contributes to childhood development through the process of PLAY!
The structures, activities, and toys have been carefully chosen to support childhood development, while facilitating new learning adventures, creativity, social skills, and problem solving. Long Live Playtime will also support a variety of sensory needs and create inclusive exhibits for children of all abilities while being overseen by an occupational therapist with expertise in childhood development and play-based learning.
Our goal as a small business is to become a destination for interaction between caregivers and young children in Luzerne County and surrounding areas. We seek to provide year-round unique educational, physical, social, emotional, and sensational opportunities for children in an area where this is currently lacking. Our aim is to meet the needs of local caregivers and children by openly welcoming suggestions and feedback at every opportunity, gaining a loyal and engaging consumer following in the process.
Long Live Playtime is a small business owned by wife and husband duo Marisa and Brian Schmidt, beginning operations in 2024 in Edwardsville, Pennsylvania.
As parents of two young boys, they had driven all over the state seeking educational play-based opportunities for their children. After speaking with many parents who also longed for a smaller, safer play-based learning atmosphere for young children (not to mention with good coffee and treats), they decided to make the dream become a reality for the community.
Marisa has 12 years of experience as an occupational therapist working with people across the lifespan from childhood to older adults. Using this knowledge of childhood development and the varying abilities of young children, she carefully curated the environment to be as inclusive and well-rounded as possible for all.
